Follow the motion

On the Austrian Ski Slopes
On the Austrian Ski Slopes

A morning on the ski slopes and a chance to practice panning. An interesting  trick making the world topsy-turvy. Static objects become moving streaks. The moving subject gets frozen still.

The photography technique requires the camera to move at the speed of the subject in its direction of motion. Skill lies in judging the speed of motion and exposing for the longest time possible. The waist swing as you move with the subject an unexpected bonus to the daily workout 😀

Remember to:

  • have lots of space in your camera memory card.
  • stand comfy on firm ground
  • take lots of shots. Only a few will come out the way you want.
