Another sunrise in the Immortal City

Kashi, Benaras, Varanasi… a city with many names

One of the ‘things to do’ when in Varanasi is to catch the sunrise on the river Ganga.

The whole river front is alive much before first light. Boatmen getting their boats ready for the daily groups of tourists. Shop keepers with their chai ready for locals and visitors. And little kids selling flowers and diyas.

The glorious sun is worth the effort of having got up so early.

Photography tip:A nice quiet spot on the ghats is often better to shoot from then the rocking boats.

Best Buy Souvenir: Copper pots containing the holy Ganga jal, Colourful kurtas printed with traditional vedic chants
